Emotional Release Technique – Part One: What Is the Emotional Release Technique?
This is part one of a two-part series on the Emotional Release Technique.
The purpose of an Emotional Release Technique is to release trapped energy and emotions, and like a lot of the energy tools, there are probably as many different types of Emotional Release Techniques as there are practitioners who use them. And taking this one step further, once a practitioner has become familiar with using the Emotional Release Technique, they’ll probably adjust the technique according to each individual circumstance.
The Emotional Release Technique I share and practice most often uses the Heart Center as the focus of the emotional release.
Research at the Institute of HeartMath shows that along with being communicated from the brain, “information pertaining to a person’s emotional state is also communicated throughout the body via the heart’s electromagnetic field” and “compared to the electromagnetic field produced by the brain, the electrical component of the heart’s field is about 60 times greater in amplitude, and permeates every cell in the body.”
What this means to me is that our heart stores emotions, and because our emotions are stored in our heart, it only makes sense that they can be released through our heart as well.
And this is what we do with this Emotional Release Technique. We use the Heart Center, to release trapped emotions and energy, and because we are working specifically with the emotions and energy, we can do this release work without having to relive the experience of how the emotions and energy came to be.
This is one of the best techniques to use when dealing with an issue in which there are so many conflicting emotions that it feels impossible to identify anything specific to actually begin working on. It’s also a great technique to use when you’re just feeling stuck all over and can’t figure out why. Once you begin to lighten the load a bit, through using the Emotional Release Technique, you can then begin unraveling everything else and identifying what it’s going to take to get unstuck.
