Let me begin by saying again that you can begin a meditation practice anywhere and at any time, and you really don’t need to invest in any fancy accessories or gadgets in order to practice meditation.
That being said, many of us like to make our space more personal and there are some beautiful ways to do so…
One item you may find of interest is the Zafu Meditation Cushion, which is a cushion designed to assist you in maintaining the proper sitting position in your practice. While you can use a regular pillow cushion you may find around your home, a Zafu is designed specifically for the purpose of supporting you in your meditation sitting position, so you’ll find that you do get a bit better support from this sort of cushion… and besides that, many Zafu Cushions are quite beautiful and can add that special ambiance to your meditation space, perhaps something that would give you greater inspiration to remain consistent in your practice.

Another great accessory is a meditation timer. And again, you can use a regular old kitchen timer or a timer on your cell phone. There is no need to purchase an additional timer specifically for your meditation practice, but if you choose to, there are some beautiful timers designed just for meditation.
Here is a timer designed for meditation available at Amazon.com:
Another nice accessory are Mala Beads. Mala Beads are strings of beads that are used for keeping count with your mantra meditation, moving one mala bead through your fingertips per mantra. Mala beads usually come as strings of 108 beads, but can also be found as 27 beads. Mala Beads can be made with gemstones or colors that have some resonance for the user. They’re beautiful, and again, while not necessary, they can add some nice ambiance to your meditation space, which may encourage you to be more consistent with your practice.

And scent, mmmm… Scent is such a powerful way to create ambiance in your meditation space. Aromatherapy is my favorite way to create ambiance with scent. You can use an aromatherapy spray, or you can use your oils in a diffuser.
These are some of the basic accessories I would normally suggest, but, of course, there are many other gadgets and accessories available including: candles and incense, meditation music, gongs, singing bowls, additional pillows, blankets and more…
While none of these are necessary for a successful practice, I encourage you to explore any of them that would make your practice and your practice area more personal and inspirational to you.
