Most of us sit way too much these days. Whether at work at a desk job, or at home getting things done on the computer, many of us find ourselves sitting for much of our day.
All of this sitting is leading to all sorts of problems, including decreased circulation and all of the effects of it.
And ageless beauties… one of the effects of decreased circulation can be an increased appearance of cellulite!
Before I go any further talking about cellulite, I, first, have to say a few words about fascia…
Many of you know that I am very much into fascia and all of its effects on cellulite, among other things, so, for me, first and foremost, cellulite is a fascia problem.
That being said… one of the things that leads to fascia problems in the first place is sitting on our behinds so much and the decreased circulation that comes along with that.
When our fascia is not getting the circulation that is needed, it will become stiff, dehydrated, and bound together. This pulls at the surrounding skin and other tissues, creating crevices and dents, which underlying fat pokes through… and whallah… cellulite!
I’ve been working at rejuvenating my fascia for almost a year now, but, one thing that has really bothered me since the time I began has been all of the sitting I find myself doing. I find it so counterproductive to renew and restore my fascia, and then turn around and sit on my behind all day while I work at my desk.
I even went out and bought a little donut shaped cushioned chair pad for my desk chair that takes a little of the pressure off of my bottom and thighs.
So… when I was invited to try out a product that would give the backs of my legs and behind a nice tissue massage while I am doing all of that sitting, I, of course, said yes!!!
That product is the SweetCheeks Cellulite Massage Mat…
The SweetCheeks Cellulite Massage Mat was created by Ali Gallagher, an attorney and former nurse practitioner.
From the SweetCheeks Website:
“After a decade working in the medical device field and as an advisor to the FDA’s Medical Device Panel, I decided that my next product would involve one that women wanted and that didn’t exist today. I focused my research in the area of cellulite because it is a condition most women have and are searching for truly effective solutions.
After researching the existing cellulite treatments on the market, I soon realized that massage seemed to be the most promising of all, and cost-wise was a treatment in reach for most women.”
The SweetCheeks® Massage Mat was created to turn the impracticality of getting a daily massage into a reality.
The mats work just like a deep tissue massage. When placed on any chair you are seated on, your body weight is leveraged against the textured surface of the mats, creating a deep, but gentle massage, and an immediate increase in circulation to the area.
The decrease in the appearance of cellulite effect is created as your body goes to work in smoothing the patterns created by the textured mat.
“After about 30 minutes, you will also see the flushing to your skin and the mirror image pattern of the mat on your skin. Then your body goes to work to pump out and smooth the skin’s surface.”
The mats are available in a variety of colors and come in a zippered Neoprene Carrying Case that allow you to bring them with you anywhere you will be sitting.
Their patented design is a Class 1 medical device listed with the FDA.
My Thoughts and Experience
Well, first off, the packaging and marketing is great! I read on the website that SweetCheeks looks to be a leader in ‘fit, fun & sporty’ products that are effective and that women can use at home, and I can see this in their presentation with their bright colorful packaging and fun descriptions in their instructions and FAQ’s.
You know that one little area that doesn’t know whether it wants to be part of your booty or thigh? I call it the banana roll. SweetCheeks calls this your Ba-Thigh. 😉
As far as instructions, it’s not a difficult product to figure out how to use, but SweetCheeks does have some nice illustrations…
I use the mats at my desk while working at the computer and I have to tell you… I’m kind of obsessed with how nice the massage feels.
The imprints created by the texture last an hour or so on me. The skin does look nice and smooth once they are gone though.
As far as any reduction in cellulite, I can’t say that I notice this as, other than my little banana roll, I don’t really have much of it back there. However, I am going to continue using the mats for the increased circulation that they bring, as well as the potential of loosening up the fascia that is holding my banana roll in place… and, of course, my favorite part… the massage.
The massage – it’s great!!! It totally energizes my legs but can also relax me.
A great way to treat yourself when you’re stuck sitting at your desk all day.
The immediate cellulite reducing effects are most likely temporary
If you’re heading out of the house and plan on showing your legs, you’ll want to make sure you have an hour or so to allow for the imprints to go down.
Wrapping it up
Most of us sit so much. Why not do something good for yourself while you’re spending that time sitting?
While it’s a temporary reduction in cellulite, I can’t help but think that the increased circulation could eventually lead to a more permanent result.
And, even if it doesn’t, the increased circulation benefit alone is still worth it!
Where to find the product
You can find out more about SweetCheeks and purchase the mats on the SweetCheeks website. The SweetCheeks Cellulite Massage Mats come in a variety of colors and currently sell for $119.
